APRS, or Automatic Packet Reporting System, is a digital communication mode used by amateur radio operators to share real-time information such as position, weather, messages, and telemetry over VHF, UHF, and sometimes HF. Using packet radio protocols, APRS data can be transmitted locally via RF and also appear globally on the internet through gateways known as iGates. APRS is often used for tracking moving stations, reporting weather from remote stations, sending short text messages, and coordinating events. Many handheld and mobile radios have APRS capability built in, and it can also be run with a computer, TNC, or soundcard interface.

Questions:
– Do you currently use APRS, and if so, what equipment do you run?
– What’s the most interesting or useful way you’ve seen APRS used?
– Do you prefer APRS on RF only, internet-only, or both combined?
